How was the last season of Barcelona?

The 2021/22 Champions League draw is unlikely to be mentioned by Barcelona fans in five, ten or even twenty years. The Catalan grandmaster openly failed the group stage, missing not only the unbreakable “Bavaria”, but also the Portuguese “Benfica”, which had to completely bypass other realities. In the end, “Barcelona” finished third, ahead of “Dynamo”, which failed even more, although from Kyiv in such a quartet, frankly, and so did not expect any miracles.
Barcelona entered the new season with new hopes and under the leadership of Ronald Koeman, but the Dutch specialist was dismissed in late October – right in the middle of the Champions League group stage. Sergi Barhuan, who replaced Cuman, led the Catalans to victory over Dynamo on the road (1: 0), and only after that the team got a new full-fledged coach – Xavi, with whom, however, failed to beat “Benfica” (0: 0) ) and lost to “Bavaria” (0: 3) in the sixth round.
As a result, Barcelona will meet Euro-2021/22 in the second most prestigious European Cup – the Europa League, where the Catalans have not played for almost 18 years. By the way, then the tournament was still called the UEFA Cup, and the Blaugranas, as now, did not experience the best period in history. Interestingly, Joan Laporta and Xavi were in the club then, as they are now.
